By Nicholas Lancaster

Writing prompts can offer tremendous writing help for writers at every level of experience and expertise. So what's the big deal about writing prompts?

Beginners can use writing prompts to help them learn and grow as writers as well as gain valuable experience in the craft. The use of prompts must be fastidiously followed if you are just starting out, and you will always want to write as much as you could to improve your chops. While they say practice makes perfect, you can always aim to at least have some sort of improvement in the near or distant future. While you may have a long list of ideas and projects to work on you may also want to employ prompts from time to time to fill in the gaps in your schedule.

For writers who have been in the trade for a while, writing prompts are a good tune-up exercise for future assignments they may be getting. They can also use exercises and prompts to create a swipe file of ideas for future reference.

Professional writers can use writing prompts to give them a creative jump start when necessary and to experiment with other forms of writing. If you feel your work is going stale or that you need some inspiration, then using prompts can make a huge difference in your creativity and overall work.

In the everyday challenge of improving one's work and eliminating writer's block, any writer can use writing prompts. Whether you're a wizard at words or somebody who writes for common folk and/or children, writer's block will always be a threat to your creativity. Writer's block is one of those things that won't kill you but can only make you stronger, so with that in mind, you should overcome this at all costs and keep on writing, this time with the help of a battery of prompts. Many times we fall into a rut with our work and writing prompts can challenge us out of that rut. Like tuning up your car can improve its performance, prompts can definitely improve your writing. And as long as you keep writing in some way 365 days a year, you can be confident in your eventual improvement.

Improve your word power and writing chops through the use of writing prompts - anybody can benefit from these prompts, beginner, veteran, pro or amateur alike.
