A Good Book Idea Deserves An Ebook Publishing Coach

A lot of people are self publishing their book for different reasons. They may use this as a branding tool in a particular industry or as a way to promote another product. Others may write books as a direct income stream and few eventually become full time authors signed to a publishing company. If one is going to take this route, it is not to be entered lightly. However, an ebook publishing coach can assist in a number of areas that may be overlooked by the new author.

A lot of people who desire to write often have a concept in mind that is marketable to a specific audience but lack the proper execution. Many feel that just using word of mouth or posting on their social media account will help them to sell units but this is rarely enough. New writers should have at least active marketing tool that will set them apart from the competition.

There are many sites that will allow anyone to write a book and though freedom of expression is a right, this does not apply to every idea. In order to get a marketable book to the masses, it should go through a few channels before going live on a merchant site. If this is bypassed, a person might as well publish it themselves as a PDF and hope for the best.

For instance, anyone who has used the grammar or spell check feature knows that not every word is targeted. In most cases, it will highlight a word with a similar spelling or meaning that may not fit the tone of the paragraph. Few of these programs have the capability to format any manuscript for an electronic book.

The best way to tell whether or not the ebook has been formatted is how it reads on a cloud reader or mobile device. How something looks in print should be different than the online version, which usually has wider line spacing and slight kerning between characters. There are different types of formatting available and knowing which to go with should be left up to the experts.

Though a person should not judge a book by its cover, reality says otherwise. Often people who shop online for books will look at a cover when they are unfamiliar with a series or the author. A graphic designer will use the best artwork and color scheme that will complement the work so that it will be attractive to someone who is just browsing online.

Although it may seem as if the competition is stiff in some genres, there are ways to get around this. A marketing plan that includes online reviews and a description that is optimized for search engines is ideal but not the only way. If the author has a built in audience or makes regular public appearances, they can also use word of mouth as a secondary or tertiary marketing tool.

All authors should also understand the business side, also known as who is making the money and when it will be paid. Most coaches know how to interpret this so the author will have an idea of what they are about to sign. There are different types of publishing rights that are offered and ideally, the writer should own all or most of their publishing.
