Book Marketing - Choose a Website Domain Name

By Adam J Bradley

So, your book is finally published and available for sale. You've sent word to friends and family, talked up the book on your social media profiles, and have blogged excerpts and other interesting notes about it to interested readers. You may not realize it once you hold the book in your hands, but your work is only just beginning.

Book Marketing and Your Website Domain Name Choose a website domain name carefully and think ahead. Marketing experts always advise using 'your name' for your domain name. While you can have multiple sites, your name should be your main or central site. On the other hand, if you write in a specific genre, you should include that in your website domain name. If you're a children's writer, maybe: Children's Books by Your Name, or Picture Books by Your Name. The more specific you make your domain name the more likely those searching online for that genre will find you.

Having participated in several signing events over the years - alone and with other authors - I have learned that timing is very important when it comes to planning a book signing. You want to choose a venue that enjoys heavy traffic, of course, but there are some other factors to consider before you contact a store. Here are just a few things to note:

Help And Guidance For The Foreword Author And don't forget, the person that writes the book's foreword will certainly be using and relying on both the preface and introduction to guide them when writing the foreword.

Therefore, you will need the preface and introduction to make an emotional and intellectual connection with the foreword's author, as well as showing and telling them about your credentials. You are trying to convince the foreword's author that you are the right person to be writing this book. In the preface and introduction you are basically telling them how you want the book to be viewed.

As mentioned, you can create multiple sites. You might have 'YourName.com' as your central website domain name and then create other sites for your individual books, or possibly for a particular niche or genre you write in. For example, I have a blogsite specifically for my each of my books. These sites offer information related to the books only.

Before you schedule a signing, it is a good idea to check a community events calendar to see what else is happening in town. If you are a newer author trying to find an audience, it can be a challenge competing with a larger event that is likely to attract thousands of people. Shoot for a low-key evening or weekend where not much is happening. You'll have less competition and a greater opportunity to meet readers.
