The Approach You Should Use to Get Effective Testimonials

You can accomplish a lot with excellent social proof in the form of testimonials, but what is most important to people is they increase sales and profits. There are two important things to think about, what can you do to encourage people to offer a testimonial plus presenting them in the best way. What you are about to learn are several excellent methods to give you good testimonials.

The fact is, case studies are much harder to get than a typical testimonial, which makes them have a higher perceived value. While not every single product will easily lend itself to a case study, you will never know until you take a hard look at it. What you should do is not talk about testimonials, but instead solicit volunteers to help you with your study on what they encountered when using your product or service. So no matter what people write about, just remember that it is all good. Remember that if this approach is good enough for the largest companies on the planet, then it really should be adequate for you, too. So if you have a product or a service that is known to help your customers in a big way, then have a talk with them and see if you could get a few good case studies going.

Lots of people react negatively when they see one business writing in a negative tone about another business. However, if a third party happens to compare your service to your competitors, pointing out your positive aspects, then it will obviously be seen as a valid insight. But if a testimonial goes over the top and slanders another businesses product, then we urge you to be careful about that otherwise you could be in for a hassle.

One thing to bear in mind is the vast majority of customers will never consent to writing a testimonial and certainly not providing their name or picture. So, all right... no huge deal there; contact your customers and see how they feel about telling you their personal stories. You are in business, and a smart person will test everything - so test this approach and see what happens. Good stories that are true should have concrete facts, so that is something to be sure you pass along in your instructions. Their story is just like a testimonial because you have to take what they give you, but you do not have to use it. Keep in mind that you still need to ask for permission to use the story.

You will find that securing any kind of testimonial is a game of percentages because you never know who will agree to let you use something.
