How To Approach Landing Page Conversion Optimization

By Emma Spark

True, landing pages can be pretty simple and easy to make, but you cannot get away with not having a clue about it. There is both art and science involved with them, and it is a fact that the more experience you obtain, the better results you will consistently get. If your conversions are in the hopper, then read the following and give it a shot.

Since landing page by definition and purpose should be simple and light, then make sure your pages are like that. It is an easy matter to test load times, so just be sure to do that and make revisions, if necessary. A good standard to use is roughly several seconds, and really three seconds is definitely pushing it. Image optimization for the web consists of decreasing the percentage resolution which degrades the image but not so much that it is noticeable. Everybody on the net is ultra impatient, and a slow loading landing page looks even worse because there is not much to them.

Remember that the landing page is devoted to what the reader gets. As always, it is about the person reading the page who hopefully is in your target market. The moment your prospects arrive at your page the first question they'll ask themselves is - "what's in it for me?". So in support of your mission to let them know, you really have to know your product inside out, or the product you are promoting. People can be a little forgiving of other things if your copy is good, and they understand what the offer is and are genuinely interested. Never deviate from who the most important player is in this affair. Don't confuse them but try get the point across in the easiest way possible -and that can only be done when you're focused on the prospect.

There are some more involved landing pages that do have testimonials so they can work well. All sales and landing page copy can benefit from your testimonials. If you do not have any killer testimonials at all, then it is best to just skip it altogether. We mean that you should try to include testimonials that talk about the exact facts and figures. If you use too many testimonials, then that could come across the wrong way, so use them sparingly.

Since you are working so hard to improve your landing page, we sincerely hope you are only using highly targeted traffic, otherwise you will be making life difficult for your self.
