Jarred Into Being The Novel

By Mona Diaz

If you love a storm in a cup kind of book where dark, looming clouds are always hovering, threatening to burst and turn everything so that it seems everything is irreparably shattered and scattered, then you will not be able to put down Jarred into Being.

The book is written by a husband and wife team of Daniel Lawrence Burke and Pat Adist Burke whose pen name is Pat Lawrence which takes from both their names. Since the book was released in August, 2011 and is published by Outskirts Press, Inc it has continued to receive rave reviews.

The story unfolds around Eva Lange whose life changes forever when she loses her parents in a tragic car accident. At the tender age of 13 years old, Eva finds that she has to learn to take care of herself after the often drunk aunt who takes her in lets by boyfriends have their way with her.

Soon, Eva is left completely alone when her aunt forsakes her and leaves her young child behind. She gets caught up in a human trafficking cartel that tries to turn her into a sexual slave. Eva finds that the next 10 years of her life are fraught with strains and struggles as she fights to be free again. She also has to fight to believe in herself.

The book is fictitious but the incidents that it draws from are often the stuff that headlines are made of. These are incidents like sexual slavery, human trafficking and corruption and laxity in government systems that are supposed to guard against such criminal activity. The absurdity of seeking to break out of sexual abuse by indulging in the very vice is also delved into and so it the crippling reality of what drug abuse can do.

One can get Jarred into Being in e-book format, in hardback and paperback. It is also available in Kindle and Nook formats. Outskirts Press, Inc, the publishers, can also supply it on request. Jarred Into Being
