Sexual Abuse Survivor Stories Are Difficult To Read

By Dianna Barnett

The most important fact to remember is that a survivor is never to blame for causing the rape. You can wear the clothing you choose. You can spend time with whomever you choose. You have the right to go out after dark. Women used to be made to feel that they instigated the sexual abuse in some way. Sexual abuse survivor stories exemplify the fact that it is the perpetrator who is at fault.

The two words, no and stop, always indicate the woman does not want the sexual activity to continue. One woman walked through the park with her new boyfriend. He pulled her behind some thick bushes and raped her. He told her she wanted it because otherwise she would not have gone into the park with him. That was a ridiculous assumption on his part.

In a movie, a woman in her early thirties invited a boyfriend over for dinner. She went into the kitchen to bring wine and glasses. As she walked back into the living room, she saw him removing the last of his clothes. He pulled her down on the couch and raped her. After it was over, he asked her to go out with him again.

The attack that followed took her completely by surprise. He refused to leave when she said no. When it was over, he asked her for another date. Unbelievably, he assumed the rape was expected because she had invited him into her apartment for dinner.

Two teens parked in a dark area to be alone. They kissed for a long time. She then felt his hands rubbing all over her. She said she wanted to leave and he pushed her down on the seat and overpowered her. He was strong and raping her before she could do anything to stop him.

The worst of these predators prey on children. There is a rash of teacher-student rapes, and those committed by relatives, such as a trusted cousin, for example. The children are threatened and do not always feel they can tell someone. Sexual abuse survivor stories involving young children are especially heinous. sexual abuse survivor stories
